Information and Regulations for the Rally

Securitaly Garrett Contest 2023

The 7th Garrett Contest will be held on Sunday 30 of april 2023, Cesenatico (FC) Italy, on the beach “Libera del Grattacielo” (just after “Piazza Andrea Costa”) with patronage from the “Comune di Cesenatico” (Cesenatico’s council) and “La Cooperativa Bagnini della Riviera” (Association of Seaside activities).

The Rally is open to everyone (including children).

You may compete with any brand of Metal Detector.

Around 3500m3 of beach will be reserved entirely as search area for the rally.
The organizers will place special coins dug into the sand (that will be used as points) in the reserved playing area, these coins will be made of various metals and will only be shown and used for the day of the contest.
These coins will be dug no deeper than 10~15cm, it will not be necessary to dig deep to find them.
The contestants MUST fill the holes they make during the competition and any objects (not the coins) found that are of no interest to the contestant need to be thrown after the end of the round into the provided rubbish sacks.
The rally will be divided into 4 qualifying rounds during the morning, two semi-finals in the afternoon and the finals will be held before evening.
Participants will be divided by colour into 4 groups.

Variations from last editions of the rally

  • The Golden Coins have been re-confirmed, one golden coin will be buried for each of the 4 preliminary rounds.
whoever finds one of these coins will receive a gift card of 150 euro to be used on www.detectorshop.com if all the golden coins are not found, the prize for any remaining gold coins will then be raffled between all participants at the end of the finals (around 16:45)
  • There will also be tens of prices from DetectorShop and other local businesses that will be given out via extraction between all participants at the end of the qualifying rounds (around 12:00)
  • Parents can accompany children participating in the rally under the age of 10, they are not permitted to help the child dig or search, and must remain passive, they may hold the shovel for the child.

A mini shovel “ALL BLACK” will be handed out to all contestants during the rounds of the rally, it is only permitted to dig with this shovel or with your hands during the contest, other digging tools are NOT permitted.

All contestants will receive a number (which is used for the lottery/extraction of prizes) that will be coloured depending on which preliminary round they are in, This number will be given with a plastic badge that must be worn at all times and MUST be visible.
A Contest 2023 T-shirt, Detectorshop cap, Garrett Camo pouch, Detectorshop bag and a XT Shovel will be handed out too all participants and must be worn during the rounds.
The camo pouch will be used to hold coins found during the rally. The use of headphones and pin-pointers such as Garrett’s “Pro Pointer” are permitted during the rally.

Children’s Area

During the rally, an area will be available for children to try out Garrett metal detectors and find objects in the sand; Parents must be present with children.

During all rounds of the rally (preliminary, semi-finals and during the finals) our “DETECTORINE” will be present in the rally grounds to attempt to distract contestants during their search, this “disturbance” is valid for all contestants and will only be for very short times,
Intolerance towards this will not be permitted and in extreme cases could disqualify a contestant from the competition.

In case of bad weather Garrett Contest will still be held

The Contest or part of it will only be cancelled in the case of dangerous weather conditions. We ask that everyone participating dress adequately for the climate conditions present and respect their own limits in case of extreme weather. If the contest is cancelled or suspended, there is no date for a repeat.
Attention: participants entering the contest grounds may be scanned with hand held metal detectors “Garrett Super Scanner V” to make sure that no one enters with coins from previous rounds.

Any transgressions to these rules should be immediately reported to a judge in the contest area, decisions made by judges are final and are non-negotiable, judges outside the play area will communicate with the ones inside the play area, decisions made will only be modified if another judge has extra information to add too the transgression. Transgressions seen by contestants must be reported straight away and will not be considered after scoring contestants.

Rally Timetable

Saturday 29 April at 16:30 to 18:30 and Sunday 30 of April at 07:30 to 08:45
Contestant numbers and gadgets will be handed out in bags.

Sunday 30 April
Hour 09:00
Preliminary rounds
there will be 4 rounds, each lasting about 25 minutes during which contestants must find as many coins as possible. Any other metallic objects found need to be collected as well.
Judges from Securitaly will be present inside the rally area.

During the entire event it is prohibited passing found coins between contestants, in the case of such poor sportsmanship, immediate disqualification will follow.

At the end of a round, participants will line up and present all found coins to the jury desk to be counted. the first 25 contestants of each round will move onto the semi-finals in the afternoon.
When there is a tie between contestants, an extraction by name will be held in the presence of the contestants to resolve the tie, it is important to be present at the jury desk until scoring has finished and who has qualified has been announced.

Hour 14:00
Two Semi-finals will be held at this hour, they will last 30 minutes and all contestants that won in the preliminary rounds will participate. At the end of the round participants will line up and present all found coins to the jury desk to be counted. the first 20 contestants from each of these rounds will qualify for the finals. When there is a tie between contestants, an extraction by name will be held in the presence of the contestants to resolve the tie.

Hour 15:30
Finals will be held, this will last 30 minutes and all contestants that won in the semi-finals will participate. At the end of the round participants will line up and present all found coins to the jury desk to be counted. in case of a tie between contestants, an extraction by name will be held in the presence of the contestants to resolve the tie.

Hour 16:30
Victor’s ceremony will be held, as well as the lottery for all the contestants with a chance to win gadgets from GARRETT, SECURITALY and other local businesses, there will be bags, sacks, digging tools and much more.

Hour 17:00
Garrett AXIOM super extraction.
Detectorshop offers a brand new Garrett AXIOM extraction among the 250 participants.
If the extracted participant will not be present at the moment, another competitor will be extracted.
